Yu Cing-fang Anti-Japanese Fighter Memorial Park

Yu Cing-fang's memorial stele is located at the peak of Hutoushan Mountain at the east of Yujing District. The memorial was put in place to commemorate the anti-Japanese uprising that took place in 1915 at Tapani. Who is Yu Cing-fang? Yu was an anti-Japanese hero back in 1915 and the region served as his base. In reprisal of his uprising, the Japanese army brutally massacred tens of thousands of people in this area. The atrocity was so great that even the Japanese Diet gave a non-confidence vote as a sign of disgust and protest. These events have now become history, leaving behind a memorial stele at Hutoushan so that we may reminisce about the day and age when courageous individuals gave up their lives for justice. Chairs are available for visitors to relax upon and have a nice cup of coffee as they think about the area's history and admire the scenic beauty of Yujing District from a mountain top.
